The Innovation Secrets of Steve Jobs

Published on December 14, 2010

After reading The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs, I went on to read another book by the same author - The Innovation Secrets of Steve Jobs.

I didn’t like the innovation-book as much as the presentation-book, because there is only a few key concepts, but there are many case studies.

It is not terrible, just that it repeats the same things with different stories.

Nonetheless, here are some of the quotes I like:

We’re drowning in a sea of technological crap, because every product that is released to the market is a result of multiple compromises based on decisions by the product manager, the engineering manager, the marketing manager, the sales manager and everyone else who has skin the the game as the prepare the offering to meet what they think are the target customer’s needs.

The more people involved in a design, the crappier it becomes.

The reason [Steve] Jobs and [Jonathan] Ive [Apple design guru] get it right is because they design sexy products with elegant and simple interfaces – for themselves.

If you can use it without complaining, then its good.

He says no to anything he believes will compromise an elegant experience/design.

Elegant.
