This Year I Donate $1,000 to Clarity

Published on December 16, 2019

It is end of year, a good time to be giving, and also to earn income tax relief πŸ˜„

I used to donate to Singapore’s Children Society (SCS) in the past few years, since my first child was born. SCS is a big well-known charity organization. From their 2018 annual report, they earn $17m – income from donation and grants.

But I thought I should support SMEs this year.

And so I research a bit on others

Clarity came into my radar as I was researching and stumbled on the Charity Transparency and Governance Awards 2019. One of the biggest worry I have with donation is that I am worried the money will be misused.

The list help me narrow down on just a few charities to research on.

Finally, I decided to give to Clarity because they

  • earned $1.6m in 2018 (while SCS earns 10x)
  • opened the first office in Yishun (my town!)
  • focus on metal wellbeing
